Sharon Niessen (1986) is geboren in Eindhoven. Op haar 9e is zij begonnen met pianolessen bij Suzanne van Dijk.
Naast haar middelbare school studeerde zij vanaf haar 14e jaar in de Jong Talentklas van het Brabants Conservatorium in Tilburg bij Ton Demmers. Daarna vervolgde zij daar nog 2 jaar haar studie voltijd.
Nu studeert ze aan het Conservatorium van Amsterdam bij Jan Wijn.


Masterclasses volgde Sharon bij o.a. Rian de Waal, Igor Roma en Ronald Brautiga, Elza Kolodin, Ruth Nye en Jirí Holena. Bij de laatstgenoemde pianist heeft ze een masterclass gevolgd in Tsjechië en gaf daar als afsluiting een concert.
Ze behaalde diverse prijzen op concoursen. In het jaar 2000 won Sharon het Petrof Concours, in 2001 werd zij bij het Prinses Christina Concours onderscheiden met een Diplôme d'Honneur. Een jaar later (2002) behaalde Sharon een derde prijs vierhandig op het Provinciaal Concours van de SJMN. Tevens won zij het Jong Talent Concours van het Muziekcentrum Frits Philips in Eindhoven. In 2004 won ze het landelijke Prinses Christina Concours en bereikte de halve finales van het YPF Concours.
In 2006 nam Sharon weer deel aan het Provinciaal Concours van de SJMN, waar zij een tweede prijs behaalde. In december zou ze het op moeten nemen tegen andere finalisten, maar vanwege haar studie bij Jan Wijn heeft ze helaas niet kunnen spelen.
Sharon heeft behalve het spelen tijdens concoursen ook veel concerten gegeven. In 2002 speelde ze met het Helikon Orkest o.l.v. Kian Pin Hiu, in de grote zaal van het Muziekcentrum Frits Philips te Eindhoven. Het jaar daarna heeft Sharon weer een succesvol optreden verzorgd, in dezelfde zaal, met het Nederlands Promenade Orkest o.l.v. Jurre Haanstra, tijdens  'Night in Lighttown'.
Met een aantal medefinalisten van het Prinses Christina Concours 2004 gaf zij een concert in Carnegie Hall in New York. Naast het optreden in Carnegie Hall heeft Sharon in december en januari een succesvol tournee gemaakt met het JeugdOrkest Nederland, o.l.v. Jurjen Hempel, met het 1e Pianoconcert van Franz Liszt. Ze speelde toen in belangrijke zalen als Vredenburg in Utrecht en de Oosterpoort in Groningen.
Verder heeft Sharon in 2005 gesoleerd met het Philips Symfonie Orkest o.l.v. Jules van Hessen, tijdens de 100e verjaardag van Frits Philips.
Ze heeft vaker met Jules van Hessen gewerkt: in hetzelfde jaar speelde ze voor de Rotary Club een pianoconcert van Mozart met het Nederlands Theater Orkest o.l.v. Jules van Hessen. Behalve het Pianoconcert speelde ze samen met sopraan Miranda van Kralingen een Concertaria van Mozart.
Daarnaast leverde het Prinses Christina Concours diverse concerten op. Sharon heeft ook meerdere optredens verzorgd in Nederland en was te horen (en te zien) op de radio en televisie in het programma "Business Class".

Behalve solo is Sharon ook actief in de kamermuziek.

Sharon Niessen (1986) is born in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, where she went to the secundary school. At the age of 9, she started taking piano lessons with Suzanne van Dijk. From her 14th she studies at the Fontys Conservatory, Tilburg(NL), where she got lessons of Ton Demmers.
At first she studied in the Young Talent Class and she was for two years full time piano student.
Now she continues her study at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with Jan Wijn.
Sharon got masterclasses amongst others with great pianists Rian de Waal, Igor Roma, Elza Kolodin, Ruth Nye, Ronald Brautigam, Jirí Holena. With the last mentioned pianist Sharon followed masterclasses in Czech Republic and at the and of that week she gave a concert with other students.
She reached also several prizes on competitions. In the year 2000 Sharon won the Petrof Concours, in 2001 she got an honourable mention of the jury at the Prinses Christina Competition. A year later, 2002, she reached the third place at the Provincial Competition of the SJMN and she won the Young Talent Competition of the Philipshall Eindhoven. This competition leaded to a performance with the Helikon Orchestra under direction of Kian Pin Hiu in the Philipshall.
 The following year (2003) she had a succesful performance too with the Dutch Promenade Orchestra under direction of Jurre Haanstra, in the same hall.This year (2004) she won the national final of the Prinses Christina Competition and reached the semi-finals of the YPF Piano Competition.
With finalists of the Princess Christina Competition she performed in the Carnegie Recital Hall in New York. She also will get masterclasses and concerts abroad, and furthermore Sharon will perform a number of concerts with the Dutch YouthOrchestra with the first Piano Concerto of Franz Liszt.
In 2005 she also was soloist with the Philips Symphony Orchestra u.d.o. Jules van Hessen, during the 100th birthday of Frits Philips. The same year she also worked with Jules van Hessen with the Dutch Theatre Orchestra. There she performed a Piano Concerto of Mozart and also with soprano Miranda van Kralingen a Concertaria.
Sharon gave many concerts in the Netherlands, and was has performed on radio and television.
Except a solo program Sharon plays chambermusic too.
